I spent a few days wandering around North Georgia and Southeast Tennessee.

A minor existential crisis brought on by chafing, leg cramps, a copperhead snake and failure to successfully hang a bear bag prevented exploration of extreme Western North Carolina.

The trip was bookended by two bears, both spotted in the Cohutta Mountains. The first crossed the road not 50 feet in front of me about 10 minutes after starting to pedal on the first day. The other was 16 miles from the end of the trip.

I climbed and descended mountains, met lots of friendly people, stayed at a bed and breakfast one night and was invited to a low country boil by horseback riders which sadly, I had to decline.

I see the words "awesome" and "epic" so overused to describe bike rides that I make a point of steering clear of using them...BUT, this ride qualifies. Excellent, awesome, and epic ride, Tim. Excellent photos and write up on the exposure site also. You ought to lengthen the story and peddle it to Bicycling, Outside, or other similar magazine.
