right behind the house, which apparently tripped the GFI on the circuit that powers the cable modem and router.
It was close, I heard the sizzle and looked out the window.
Maybe I can find an exploded tree tomorrow?

Never had that happen before.

Probably the one you've been trying to bring back from the dead.

Coincidence or connection???

In another bizarre, but likely related incident our family room tv had also quit working.
At first, I didn't connect the incidents.
Yesterday I started tracking down the problem.
Initially, I thought it was the cable box. I swapped in the other cable box with negative results.
The TV had picture, but "No Input".
Swapped the cable box to a different HDMI port and it worked.
Guess the "lightning gremlins" managed to kill HDMI port#1 too, maybe?

Do NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT pour water on said lightning gremlins. It only makes matters worse. No food after midnight or bright lights either for that matter.
