Came across a funny story today, which reminded me of f folks in the spin class.
A girl gets a scale that integrates with her fitbit, then the truth sinks in....
Quote:
Regardless of the accuracy, my friend didn't like (or agree with) what the scale was telling her about her body-fat percentage. She disliked the unit, and within a week it was 'stored' away out of sight.
Most people in spin class don't really want to know what their real power is. I get it.
I use to like looking down and thinking I was "running" close to a 400 watt target and over 1Kcal/hr. I and others would enjoy seeing the expression on the face of the person checking out my#'s.
Since it's not convenient to measure penis-size or vehicle sticker prices in spin class, some people have to do the next best thing, in this case, powermeter-peeping. Shocked
Now that I've tweaked my spin bike calibration, I struggle to maintain sessions >300 watts or an average over 200 watts for the hour. I guess in some ways my ego is still bruised, I work harder intervals and that means more recovery time, more recovery time means reduced average numbers for power, cadence and total calorie burn.
I don't know what the magic mix is for the training formula, other than one of my patent comments, "it's all good".

Why wouldn't it be convenient to measure penis size in spin class?

Excuse me, but when is it ever practical (or, what's the word..."manly" maybe?) to measure someone else's penis size and how the hell did you come up with this in a post about spin class? Have you taken up drinking heavily in your retirement years?

Just wonderin',
Robert

Yeah, but that's in your 3rd or 4th hour on the bike.

^^^ haha, my sentiments exactly, keep em' slongs in the privacy of your lycra shorts^^^, we can just compare the length of our bike stems, be more safer...

I guess i'm just a low tech guy, no garmin, power meters, HR monitors, cadence, spin bike monitors etc....I just rely on the good ol' wired cateye, strava stats and hope I don't get dropped to where I get lost on a route...but I guess that's what smart phones are for....Heck I've even thought about joining planet fitness close to the house, and be happy w riding a stationary w no fancy data on days like this today.....

Geez you guys, it was just a metaphor.
Now I understand people from Cobb County feeling a little insecure.
But you guyz from North Ga or NC, heck I saw that movie and we all really know where the Cahulawassee River really is.
Rlaz you could sit behind me in spin class and feel perfectly safe.
Heck we even let mtb folk ride with us in spin class!

MotoB--
Planet Fitness is dirt cheap compared to other clubs with their basic plan and one year contract. I've been thinking about stopping by their new site in Hiram and seeing what they offer. They didn't show a class schedule, which isn't a good indication.

They do have a timed circuit which are challenging:
