Tom,

Fall Colors ride is scheduled for Saturday, November 6 @ 9:30, Sloppy Floyd Park, Summerville. Should be same as in the past. I'll post again with more details. Thought the later date might give us better color and avoid Halloween festivities. I'm worried this year that the leaves are going to fall off the trees before we get much color!

How many of you would be in favor of making the Fall Colors ride a paid event, in the future, with SAG stops, support, etc.? Some of the present board are interested in making this a 2nd event for the CVCA. I'm not sure that I agree. I kind of like keeping it low key, plus I think it infringes on the Chattooga Booster's August ride. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks,
Chris

I say charge 35 bucks; that'll keep the riff-raff away... Twisted Evil

Shocked Beg to differ w/you Mr. Goob, but I doubt charging $35 would keep the riff-raff away. I say this becuase I just checked, & I happen to have $35! Laughing

Cycling is about riding bikes,
not generating a revenue stream.

Just like Christmas is not about Black Friday.

Last time I checked, none of these groups that want to charge for rides, built any of the roads or maintained them. Perhaps we as tax payers should rent them the roads for their rides?

Perhaps after cleaning up the tunnel we should charge a toll to ride through and be mud free?

Not to mention it would be in poor taste, as you mentioned, squatting on someone else's route.

Please don't make this a PAID ride! It would take the fun out of it!

But - I would pay $5.00 towards the SAG support and off set additional costs like I have had to do for the Christmas Ride. Especially since some Mercedes Imperialists enslaved their SAG driver and made her drive them back to their vehicle forfeiting her opportunity to ride. Why?! They had an important engagement to make and were running late.

Point being:
1. They didn't even TIP her!!
2. If your time is limited - dont come to the ride!

Plus they took the SAG driver away from the course so other needy riders were abandoned. I would say - charge them for the ride!! Laughing
