I've seen several burned houses on rides during the past couple of weeks.
A house burned on McPherson Church Rd near the railroad crossing. A man died in a house fire off Brock Rd in Yorkville on Dec 28th. I can't recall exactly where but there was another on my ride this past Saturday. It might have been along the Sky Loop route.
Not sure what my point is except that my heart goes out to these people. The violence of it is shocking to see even after the fire is put out.
My guess is electric heaters because of the cold. I hadn't changed the batteries in my smoke detectors this past fall but seeing a house with the roof burned off is motivation and just changed them now.

That, and you lose everything. My father was a victim of arson several decades ago, he caught the people fleeing, and there wasn't anything that they could do about it. He came home to a smouldering foundation and someone who thought enough to bring him some blankets.
