Tour de France organizers have formally blocked four-time champion Chris Froome from competing in this year’s race, Le Monde reported Sunday, but he is expected to fight the move.

Froome and Team Sky were able to prove that his finding that day following the 18th of 21 stages was within his expected range of variation, which proved consistent with him taking a permitted dosage of salbutamol.

Privilege.
Wonder how many other riders have been banned if these organizations don't properly account for variability aka margin-of-error?
Why is this only now, days prior to the tour start, being surfaced?

Your post made me curious so I visited Velonews for some reading.

It will be interesting to see what kind of success Froome will achieve. At 33, he's getting old. Winning the Giro and the Tour in one year ain't easy, Marco Pantini in 1998 was the last. Froome's ramp up / training for this tour is completely different from his previous winning years. The doping cloud will follow him everywhere......we'll see, could be interesting.

It's doubtful he'll be as strong as usual, but Dumoulin went pretty deep in the Giro, too. If Movistar attacks Froome hard and early, really make it about shutting Froome down, they could fill the podium.

Landa is my closest guess for the winner. He didn't ride the Giro. He will show himself sooner than Quintana. He's been sandbagging for a few races.

I believe Froome will crack.

I've been away away for a while, no idea who the players are but as usual, I guess all the fun and games will start in the mountains. I'll try to pay more attention this year.....especially since Froome is going for the double and the chances of him cracking are higher.
