Speaking of the social aspect of cycling...

I've become aware of an intown Wednesday Night Cycling Social. From a recent Strava post...

Quote:
"Meet at The Spindle on Wednesday evening at 8:30pm...wheels down at 8:45pm...route for the night revealed turn-by turn as you follow in real time. It’s always a 15+ mile no-drop roll...party pace."

https://www.thespindleatl.com/

Last week they did 23 miles and stopped at Victory Sandwich Bar which is very cycling friendly. A chill ride in an urban environment, bluetooth speakers, lights blazing - sounds like it might be a fun change of pace on a warm summer night.

Good to see a community like this developing in the ATL.

In truth, our west end cyclists have never developed a sense of community.

Perhaps choosing to live divorced from the perimeter is merely a manifestation of deeper personal characteristics?

However, the way people describe themselves seems to be culturally bound. Individuals in the western world are indeed more likely to view themselves as free, autonomous and unique individuals, possessing a set of fixed characteristics. But in many other parts of the world, people describe themselves primarily as a part of different social relationships and strongly connected with others.

The Intown Cycling world has had a huge community for well over a decade. I've done a few of the rides. They are awesome (except late for those of us that have to work early the next day).
