I'm encouraging anyone who feels symptoms to get to the doctor right away and get tested.

I just got out of the hospital with Type A influenza. My body completely shut down - I could not lift myself from the floor to the sofa, was heaving violently and shaking/shivering uncontrollably. A couple hours of this and driving myself to the hospital would have been suicidal so I dialed 911 and paramedics took me to Kennestone ER. Oxygen was only 90% so they kept me overnight. Thankfully there is no pneumonia.

One side effect of anti-nausia medications is drowsiness and it was a godsend. I slept for the better part of 36 hours.

The doctor said that the hospital is full of otherwise healthy people who are down with complications including lots of pneumonia. The vaccine is not very effective this year.

I've had flu before. This one is nasty. My recommendation is not to hesitate, go to the doctor if you feel symptoms.

I'm currently recovering from Type A myself. My symptoms weren't as bad as yours but its a slow go getting some energy back.

Good luck in the coming weeks!

A guy that I use to ride with, in California, died from the flu last month.
It's serious stuff.

I've had the flu for two weeks. It has not been pleasant.
