Possible bike commute from Dallas to Kennesaw. What do you think?

Danger Wil Robinson, Danger!

Barrett & 120 do have bike-able side walks, which I think the county calls multi-use trail.
120 is only partial though, but there is road margin.

Stilesboro has a marked bike lane to Barrett, but very high traffic

Traffic is a fact of life, especially commuting. I commuted for ten years. Take the lane when you need it and give it back when done.

Kennesaw Due West is very nice to ride in either direction between Acworth Due West and Stilesboro. There is a good shoulder almost the whole way except close to Hayes Elementary School near Stilesboro Rd.

Kennesaw Due West is fun to ride between Stilesboro and Cobb Parkway, past Kennesaw Mountain High School all the way to downtown Kennesaw. It is a slight downhill almost the whole way. I have not ridden it when teenagers are going to and leaving the high school however, but ride both of these sections on many Sunday nights between 8:30 PM and midnight. I have ridden it Saturday mornings as well.

Avoiding high schools in the morning would be my biggest concern. Kennesaw Mountain High School on Kennesaw Due West Rd and Harrison High School on Due West Rd are going to be challenges. The teenagers going to Allatoona High School in the morning are oblivious and I have had incidents more than once in the morning.

I would not ride 120. There are rumble strips and quite frankly, better options.

The Noonday Creek trail rail along much of Barrett Parkway from Burnt Hickory to Old 41 is very nice. I have ridden it many times. The problem is between Old 41 and Cobb Parkway where they have interrupted the trail with many store entrances including Whole Foods and QT. This has turned the trail into nothing more than a sidewalk. Again, there are better options.

Of the maps linked above, Midway to Kennesaw Due West is better and very doable.

You might want to try something like the routes linked below. I have ridden every single one of these roads.

You could even take the tunnel under the train tracks in Kennesaw but don't fly off the steps! The steps can't be seen approaching the tunnel. Go around, down the ramp.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

I did a similar route last Tuesday night. Needed to get a car from the repair shop and decided to kill two birds with one stone, rode my bike right past Mike's destination.

I would prefer the following route :

Trying to keep as much time on multi-use trails from Burnt Hickory to Vaughn rd. I have not been on Due West Rd/Burnt Hickory on weekday mornings so I am not sure about the traffic there.

Cutting through the shopping center, across 41 at the light and onto Vaughn is a nice trick.

I like that.
