I had laser surgery for my #2 kidney stone on Tues (2/6).
Of course, such things are never phun.
Recovery seems to be going OK, no probs.
They leave a stent inside that gets removed in a week, so your not suppose to do things like cycling.
The purpose of the stent is to prevent the plumbing parts from swelling shut, at least that was my interpretation that folks like jrc would better understand in colloquial redneck speak.
Anyway, I hope to be able to resume training next week.

Also, riding ATVs and cleaning the trail isn't on the activity list either.
Getting into March I hope to be catching back-up with the world.

The doctor said that in about 10% of patients, they can't get the scope in and a stent has to be placed and a second procedure is req'd, fortunately that wasn't necessary. So, that was my first concern getting out of surgery.

What I've changed to help manage kidney stone formation:
I start and end each day with a huge cup of water (> 20oz), no coffee until I've drank the water. Drink more water during the day too. For my protein recovery drink, I previously mixed that with skim milk, which I've switched to orange juice. Also cut back on high oxalate food/drink like spinach and black tea.

I had the Calcium Scan on Saturday (2/3) which I'll share the experience on that thread.

Did Joe get his plunger back? Did I just stumble across a motive? Joe, what do you have to say for yourself?

Hope that you feel better, Geek.

Here's something to cheer you up.

Doing OK.
A reduction into Tech grad psychotropic terms:
Probably the best-simplest metric is urine color, which took about 5 days to achieve the normal pale beer-like tint after the procedure.
Of course, even a Ga Southern 1st term dropout would understand that description.

I don't know how the tissue damage done by the kidney stone or damage from the procedure contributed to the tainted color of the urine, but some days before the procedure were very dark.
A 7mm stone has <40% chance of passing and likely would have done a lot of damage in the process, plus a much higher risk of infection, pain, and complications.
I still think that waiting for the stone to migrate out of the kidney, then have it removed in the ureter tract was a prudent approach; vs creating a bunch of debris in the kidney, as the doctors suggested.
